A fast-paced, task-based speaking session. Review three flawed cities and argue which one deserves to host a massive global sporting event.
Join the main room. Read the profiles of the three flawed cities competing to host the event.
Jump into a breakout room. Debate with your partner, select the best city, and decide how you will fix its main flaw.
Return to the main room. Student A announces the winning city and why; Student B explains how you will fix the major flaw.
Defend your choice! The rest of the class acts as the critical global press asking tough follow-up questions.
Our traditional English speaking clubs focus on conversation around a topic. These sessions help you share opinions, react to other people’s ideas, and build confidence speaking English in a relaxed environment.
The SKILLS Speaking Club introduces a new challenge. Instead of simply discussing a topic, you must use English to complete a task. That means thinking quickly, working with another person, and building an idea together before presenting it to the group.
This format combines speaking practice with important communication skills such as teamwork, persuasion, problem solving, and presentation. These are the same skills used in international workplaces, universities, and global companies where English is the common language.
If you want to move beyond basic conversation and develop stronger communication skills, this session is the perfect complement to our regular online English speaking practice.
45 minutes. A fun challenge. Real-world evaluation and presentation practice.
